Why Do You Compete?
I joined the team because my sister, brother-in-law, and boyfriend (now husband) were all into cycling, and I felt lazy in comparison when they would go on 70 mile bike rides and I'd sit home and watch a movie. I wanted to get active and I wanted to try a triathlon at some point in my life. I needed a bike to do a triathlon, so I bought an entry-level trek and realized that with that sort of investment, I better actually ride it. So I did. I was going to all the bike races anyway, to root for my man, so I figured I might as well try a race instead of just sitting on the sidelines. So I did. I got hooked on the adrenaline, rekindled the competitive spirit from my high school days, and learned to work with great teammates!
What Is Your Favorite Race Memory?
Anytime I can accomplish a goal I've set out for myself is an awesome feeling. Sometimes it's a goal to win a race, sometimes it's to help out a teammate, and sometimes it's just to finish a crazy, hard race even though I'm 10+ min off the back (cough... Cherry Roubaix). During the 2011 season, a big goal of mine was to try and improve my Ada Time Trial times. By the end of the season, I managed to chop 5 minutes off the previous year's PR!
