What Is Your Favorite Race Memory?
Terry Reisch 2010. It was my first season racing, and they decided to race all the women together. It was a very hilly course, but I seemed to do okay as long as I stayed right behind the steady wheel of a CAT 2 or 3 rider. With about 2 laps to go, I lost the wheel I was on and slid back in the pack. At every corner, I felt myself yo-yo – falling back, then sprint to catch back on. Just after we started the last lap, I dropped off the back. I was only about 20 feet back there, but didn't feel like I could close the gap. Snotting and almost crying, I caught back on with less than 1/2 a mile to go. As we turned the last corner, I did everything I could to catch my breath. When we got to the bottom of the hill, I made my move and went around the group. I gave everything I had and sprinted up the final hill as Dan and Geoff ran beside me cheering. I finished second, just behind my teammate Kathy.
