Why Do You Compete? I love seeing other people that share my passion for mountain biking, adventure racing, or any other race that I might enter. I love doing team events too, which makes it all the more fun!
What Is Your Favorite Race Memory? An adventure race called "Swamp Stomp" in Florida. It was a 24 hour race. My teammate and I were cold, hungry, and tired. We were biking through the cypress swamp until we we hit a "hunting trail", which consisted of 2 feet of water. We had to walk 1/2 mile in 30 degree temps carrying our bikes. We did it. Many teams quit after this low point in the race (they had a nice campfire at the transition area), but we kept pushing through and ended up first in our division. I'll never forget trudging through the Florida swamps at midnight, carrying bikes, and hoping we weren't going to take a wrong step and sink up to our shoulders in swamp water.
What's Your Most Embarrassing Race Memory? Getting dropped during the Superior Bike Fest Road Race. I decided to race on a whim and wasn't prepared. I lost the group during a corner; at least it was a good ride.
